Sweet Hour of Prayer

Sweet Hour of Prayer

Prayer is such a vital part of our lives.  It is one of the greatest determining factors in whether or not our girls will stay in the church and stay close to God.

What are some ways that we can show them the need for prayer and instill a desire to pray within their hearts?

Location: The church would be best for this meeting.

Devo: Give examples of what is accomplished in prayer.  Share stories (previously gathered) of people in your church that have seen God do the miraculous because they asked, in prayer.

Give Scriptures of the necessity of prayer, such as:

“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15:7

“But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.” Matt 15:7

A good book to use for instruction in prayer is The Prayer Journey by Freddi Trammell.

In this book Sis. Trammell teaches the importance of the different facets of prayer and stations are set up where you accomplish the 8 different aspects of prayer.

The 8 areas/stations of prayer that you will “journey” through is:

Praise and Worship

Repentance and Forgiveness

Petition

Intercession

Meditation

Thanksgiving

Praying the Word

Singing

You may need to adjust the time that is spent in each area, depending on the club members that you have, as some of them may be new to prayer.

Sis. Trammell also has made available The Prayer Journey for Kids

that would be helpful for your young girls as well.

Another excellent tool to give your girls is the Prayer Wheel.

A complete hour is broken down to 5 minute segments accomplishing

different things such as praise, petition, scripture praying, singing, etc.

You can find several different types of these online.

Above all, we want our girls to establish their own daily prayer life. This habit will keep them

throughout their lives and help them to grow in their relationship with God.

Share it with us, so we can share with others.
